All About Contact Lens Cases

While most optometrists will give their patients that purchase contact lenses, a new case, there may be times when you will have to purchase an extra one, or replace the contact lens case that you have.

A contact lens case basically stores your contact lens while they are not in use. There are several different styles of cases available, but yet, they all serve the same purpose. You will find that all cases for contact lenses have lids that open and a circular shaped storage area for you to put them into. While some cases have lids that screw on, others have lids that snap down into place when you close them. Make sure when you close your case that you do not close the lid onto a contact lens. Doing so could damage your lenses, and you will then have to have them replaced.

Many of the contact lens cases that you will find have the lids marked with an L for the left contact lens, and a R for the right contact lens. Of course if you have a different prescription for each eye, you will want to take extra care to make sure that you put your contact lens in the appropriately marked place. Doing this will ensure that when you go to put on your contact lens, you will put the correct lens on the correct eye.

When you put your contact lens into the case, you will want to put some contact solution into the case where your contact lens will be held. Adding solution to your contact lenses case will ensure that your lenses do not dry up while they are being stored for the next use.

Contact lens cases are very portable, you can put one in your purse, or your pocket, in case you get off somewhere away from home and need to remove your contact lenses. Adding a case to your briefcase, and maybe keeping one in your desk at work is also not a bad idea at all. This way when the need arises to give your eyes a rest at an inconvenient time, you will be prepared.
